-Blurring the lines with vintage non-binary portraiture-
Within the realm of photography the image represents the reality it depicts one on one. Visual artist Bonnita Postma adds an extra layer to this medium by combining various vintage found photographs in such a way that new portraits emerge.
By adding, eliminating, covering up or discovering by laying bare, new intriguing portraits - or even better, personalities - come to light.
These are vulnerable personalities, freed of the common stereotypes as gender, colour or age.
By re-photographing and enlarging the collages their restrictions disappear and thus making way for new identities.
