In this project titled "Collective Grief" I am making portraits of people who have lost a loved one, or loved ones, to Covid-19. After losing three of my family members to Covid I decided to try and channel my own grief into something I hoped would be meaningful and I began photographing others who had lost someone. I'm hoping this work will serve as a record of those lost, and also those left behind. A record of our collective grief. In this photograph Kirstie Spivey sits in her father's prized car while holding his houndstooth hat outside of their home in Alexander City, Alabama. Spivey lost her father and both of her sisters to Covid.
